| Member Libraries | Meeting Minutes - March 05, 2009 Gafney Library, Sanbornville Meeting called to order 9:30 AM Attendance: Ann Hoey - NH State Library, Karen Brown – Nute Library, Milton, Deborah Longo – Somersworth Public Library, Diane Cassidy and Berrie Donovan – Gafney Library, Sanbornville, Dorinda Howard – Rochester Public Library, Rhoda Capron – Baisdell Memorial Library, Nottingham, Nancy Bergeron – Madbury Public Library, Yvonne Fisher – Ossipee Public Library and Holly Brown – Gilman Library, Alton. Nancy made a motion to accept the minutes form the meeting dated, December 04, 2008, as read. Motion was seconded by Rindy. Motion Carried. Treasurer’s Report was noted and placed on file for audit as follows: Balance as of last report - $1,481.90 Deposited - $1, 225.00 Paid - $1,168.68 Current balance - $1,538.22 News from the NH State Library - see the complete report on the NH State Library website – Computer lab should be available this spring. Classes will be announced soon. Annual Report is due April 20, 2009, access the report on a new site using the same password and user name. Chilis Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at So. NH University. Registration is almost full. The National Collaborative will be voted on. Kids & the Arts applications must be mailed to Ann Hoey no later than Wed, April 08. 2009. Lots of applications are anticipated. You must have your state report done to receive grant money. T- shirt orders must be in by Friday, April 03, 2009. These may be the last NH shirts depending on the collaborative vote. Reads Roundtable discussions will be held in Hanover, Hooksett and Plymouth. See the State Library website for a full report on the NHAIS disruption. The NH State Library Budget is still up in the air. There are 4 positions vacant and 1 person lost their job at the NH State Library. Our state relies heavily on Federal LSTA funds. All libraries are encouraged to write to our State Legislators to let them know the value of library services AND to take a look at the Value Calculator Form on the NHLA website. It is a great way to show the community the importance of the library and to gain input on a regular basis. Just a reminder…reference questions can be answered through the NH State Library.
NEW BUSINESS: Use “visual tools” to promote your library….. Nancy offered some great ideas for creating a display board promoting Van Service and Interlibrary Loan. Berrie uses the value Calculator Form as a visual tool. Berrie suggested we talk about Article Express and EBSCO at the next meeting. Weed collections…Keep weeded items…send updates to Tuftonboro. .PLEASE SENDYOUR RALI DUES TO KAREN IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE SO ALREADY!!!! Thanks were offered to Karen for all of her work pertaining to the presentation given by Edie Clark. Rhoda and Barrie will be sponsoring a Roundtable Discussion at the NHLA conference scheduled for May 19thand 20th, 2009 at Attitash in Bartlett, NH Security cameras are working wonders for libraries in Ossipee, Rochester and Somersworth. Gafney Library has the Gateway Automation System up and running and is very pleased with it.
OLD BUSINESS: Loose ends tied up…. There will be no RALI Large Print Rotation. There will be no RALI Book Discussion Group.
**Rhoda will get back in touch with Barbara White regarding her presentation of the program “NH Women as Innovators” for the June 18th, 2009 meeting that will be held at the Rochester Public Library in Rochester.
No program scheduled for this meeting….Round table discussion among the members who were able to remain longer.
