Tuftonboro Free Library

Called to order 9:35 a.m.
Attendance:
Ann Hoey, Diane Cassidy, Rhoda Capron, Linda Lee Lambert, Christie Sarles, Donna Hynes, Berrie Donovan,  Karen Brown, Yvonne Fisher
Minutes:  Minor changes in book title The Emperor’s Guest by Titia Bozuwa and Debbie Christie recommended David Monroe on last page.  Motioned and seconded to accept the minutes as amended
Ann Hoey State library report

• Information all on line
• Census – NHSL suggest supporting Census 2010 – mouse pads to each PL to publicize and support involvement in census.  Promotional displays encouraged.  Send photo of it and be in a drawing for a children’s counting book.  Money will go to NH businesses.  Federal funds are tied to census figures. (Job op to do the census)
• We will all be getting Kil-o-watt meters from PSNH
• Bobbi will do another workshop on downloadable audiobook services
• FRC  is sending out resources to all libraries (from parent info. Center on early literacy)
• NHSL staff helping with vans – job share duplication of resources
• Ann brought books from children’s book review

Treasurer’s Report

• $35.94 fee for hosting website from Daystar is the only expense
• $1,644.84 Balance
• Two libraries owe dues; Karen will notify them

 Old Business

• Lindalee has sent all rotation info to Debbie Christie at Goodwin Library in Farmington.  Bethany will be our contact there and Berrie will find out Bethany’s direct contact info and send it to members.  A reminder to delete and keep damaged items in the collection and to contact Bethany with the information about the discarded item.  It was noted that website rotation info is wrong; Berrie will coordinate the correct info with Bethany and then Karen who will correct the website www.ralionline.org.  In the meantime rotations should be sent to the same recipient as in the past.

New Business

• Revised bylaws will reflect:  new libraries may join RALI and any member changes to exchange items may be made in June

Berrie presented written notes for changes to be emailed to all and discussed and voted on at next meeting.
Funds may be appropriated at any meeting

• Lindalee suggested purchasing a DVD/CD repair/cleaner system and will investigate and bring info to the next meeting.  Members agreed this would be a good idea and the device would be housed at the library coordinating the exchanges.
• Berrie  suggested thinking about what the coop can do to enhance member libraries in this economy when so many budgets/services have been cut.  Brainstorming will take place at the next meeting, bring ideas for discussion.

Brief review / sharing of our library news

• Rhoda – zero or level funded as were many of us
• Donna Rochester – free art workshop by local artist
• Ossippee – 9 people at last Trustee meeting to change the name of the library – Frank Lord gave money and his sisters gave money for the structure.  Ossippee or Lord Library
• Karen Brown – New administrator of Nute HS wants to become boss of library (vs Trustees).  Meeting in Jan. Her library opened in 2000 with public librarian.
• Tuftonboro – level funding and space issues
• Nancy, Madbury  Library – patron has developed a blog “for the library” and Nancy wants feedback on how to address the issue.  Suggestions included putting a disclaimer on the library’s website site plus contact patron to put disclaimer on his blog
• Berrie , Gafney Library, Consultant Patience Jackson has submitted a needs assessment and recommended– at a minimum – that the library be tripled in size

Colleen prepared cookies, bacon-wrapped chestnuts, pumpkin butter, breads  and did a food demonstration.  We all filled plates to capacity and ate with gusto!
